It is the day and age of immediate gratification, grocery pickup is the wave of the future!
As a mom, you are busy all day long. Finding time to go to the grocery store can be very hard. If you have small children it can be even harder. Who wants to load the kids into the car to unload them at the store. Then they take up the whole grocery basket, where you must put them so that they don’t run all over the store! You become so distracted that you forget the items on your list!

There are many stores throughout the country that are rolling out grocery pickup. I will discuss a few that are local to me. You may find others in your area that work similarly.
Walmart
Walmart initiated the grocery pick up in their home state of Arkansas and a few other test markets in 2015. By late 2017 there were over 1,000 stores that offer grocery pick up. The popularity is for a variety of reasons. The number 1 reason is that it is FREE! The only qualification is that you have a minimum order of $30.
The process is simple. You go to the Walmart website or the app and place the items in your cart. Next, select a pickup day and time and check out. Walmart will send you a text and/or email when your order is ready. You can check in on the app when you leave your house and when you get to the store your groceries will be ready. The groceries will be loaded into year car upon your arrival. You have done all of your shopping and you didn’t even have to leave your car!
You can shop from most of the departments at Walmart, not just groceries. You cannot shop with coupons but you can add your receipt to your Savings Catcher. The Savings Catcher checks your receipt to see if any store in your area has lower prices on the items that you purchased. If there are any items with lower prices Walmart will give you back the difference. If you are not currently a Walmart online grocery customer you can use my link and save $10 on your first order. Kroger
The program at Kroger is very similar to that at Walmart. You select your groceries, pick a time and pay online. You have an hour window to pick up your groceries. When you arrive at Kroger you call the number that is on the sign in the pickup area. Kroger offers 3 free pickups and then there is a $4.95 fee for future orders. The benefit to Kroger that isn’t available at Walmart is online coupons. Using the Kroger app you can add coupons to your account.
